The origins of Girlfriends Go …. In 2000 I went on a sailing trip to Greece with 6 women, most of whom I had never met. We quickly discovered that we all had a passion for travel, good wine and laughs. We were boneheaded sailors (lost an anchor and a bow light—scoring no points with our short tempered Greek captain), but the laughs were non-stop and we have been traveling together ever since!

The 'Greece Girls' are the original Girlfriends Go Girls and I dedicate the name to them (you know who you are: Tammy, Sherry, Lisa, Sue, Monica and Grazia). Traveling with other women gives you an opportunity to just be who you are amongst the girls.

We all like to size ourselves up in comparison with other women, but the magic between women happens when we let our guard down and allow ourselves to be real. We come to find out that we have so much more in common than differences and have all experienced similar emotions, challenges and triumphs in life.

There's nothing as base as sitting around with the gals, wearing mud masks and jammies, drinking sweet wine and playing a serious game of gin with the hilarious karma sutra cards. Traveling with husbands and kids is great, but getting a hall pass in Europe for a week and being with your gal pals, that's where the fun begins!
